Shaun Cooper will today seal his Pompey comeback.
The versatile Crawley player will pen a loan deal at Fratton Park – where he began his professional career.
Cooper, 29, has made just five appearances for the Sussex side this term, his latest coming in the 3-0 defeat to Swindon on August 21.
Born in Newport, Isle of Wight, Cooper made his Pompey debut in the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace in March 2002.
However, he went on to make just six more first-team appearances over the next three years – during which he spent time on loan at Leyton Orient and Kidderminster.
He then left Fratton Park to join Bournemouth, where he played 211 times before joining Crawley last year.
While he operates predominantly as a defender, Cooper can also play in midfield.
He will link up with Pompey for training today and – subject to Football League clearance – will be available for Saturday’s game with Hartlepool.
