Luca Scapuzzi has today returned to Manchester City.
The 21-year-old winger asked to end his loan deal with Pompey after failing to break into the first team.
Scapuzzi had played just 16 minutes of football, despite being named in Michael Appleton’s past seven squads.
Appleton was keen to keep him – as mentioned in today’s News.
However, Scapuzzi has elected to head back to the Etihad Stadium two matches before the end of the season.

Scapuzzi: We Can Survive March 29, 2012
He has been at Pompey for barely a week.
But Luca Scapuzzi has already seen enough to believe that the Blues can survive in the Championship this season.
Pompey are three points adrift of safety with seven games remaining – and four of those are at Fratton Park.
And attacking midfielder Scapuzzi – who has arrived on loan from Manchester City along with Dutch defender Karim Rekik – is confident that gap can be bridged.
“Without the 10-point penalty we would be higher in the table,” says the Italian in the official matchday magazine for Saturday’s clash with Burnley at Fratton Park. “So I think there is enough quality here for us to climb up the league.
“I just want to play as many games as possible during my time here and hopefully improve as a player, while also helping Pompey get as many points as possible.
“I only found out about the move to Pompey the day before I came down here. I was told that there was the chance to sign on loan and play some really important games.”
